HAPPY FEET ON DUTY

PC Daniel Graham is no stranger to attention. He first gained recognition at Britain’s Got Talent with his show-stopping dance performance and now he’s taking it to the streets. At last weekend’s Notting Hill Carnival, he couldn’t stop himself from breaking it down and having a boogie, despite being on duty. Needless to say, the crowd went wild. Maybe law and order is not his true calling?

THE CATWALK REDEMPTION

Prison mugshots seem to be the new modelling portfolios. At least it seems that’s all fashion scouts are looking at nowadays. After Jeremy Meeks’ journey from a Stockton prison cell to international catwalks, it now seems to be 20-year-old Mekhi Alante Lucky’s turn to strut. Even though he was arrested five times between April and December last year for car theft, assault on a female, breaking and entering and resisting a public officer, in the ever-perplexed world of fashion, that doesn’t seem to matter?

IKEA’S HUMAN CATALOGUE

Every year, Ikea finds a way to dazzle everyone with their creative introduction to the annual print catalogue. This year they’ve teamed up with two-time world memory champion, Yanjaa Wintersoul, to create the first-ever human catalogue. Over a single week, Yanjaa managed to memorize over 400 items in the 328-page book and she’ll prove it to you. On 6th September at 5 pm Singapore time, viewers will be able to both watch and test her live on Ikea Singapore’s Facebook page. Make it count!

STRANGER THINGS ARE COMING

As the second season starts in under two months (October 27th to be precise), Stranger Things has been teasing the fans with amazing trailers and #ThrowbackThursday movie posters, where they paid homage to classic 80’s horror and sci-fi films. With the release date fast-approaching, they are refreshing fans’ memories of season 1 with an arcade-themed promo. Just like how Eggos are highly valued in the show, they are a prized inventory within the teaser. Level up!

PORTRAIT OF THE AMERICAN OUTLAW

On the subject of strange things, photographer Olivia Locher released a book defying the weirdest laws from each of the 50 American states. She launched an investigation, delving into the criminal codes across the United States and digging up the dirt to create a tongue-in-cheek portrait of the American outlaw. The book reflects the biases of those who once wielded the power to write the rules and how, strangely, some things never change.

SOUTH PARK ALL GROWN UP (NOT REALLY)

South Park has entertained us for twenty years and redefined the meaning of controversial content. It is much more than just farts, explosions, dick jokes and Kenny deaths; it’s a clever mockery of society and popular culture. It really does make you question everything. With the twenty-first season set to return to Comedy Central on 13th September, the creators of the show dropped a teaser featuring old footage with some promising new material. Bring it on!
