LOOK WHAT YOU MADE TAYLOR DO

Hate her or love her, one thing is for sure, Taylor Swift is an unstoppable force of pop. She sure knows how to stir up a social media storm. Prior to her 6th studio album release, Taylor wiped her Instagram and Twitter accounts clean, sending the social media world into meltdown. The rebirth of her Instagram feed was announced by several short videos of a snake. This can only be referencing her well-publicized clash with the Kardashian-Wests which saw Swift’s social-media accounts flooded with snake emojis. If you can’t fight it, own it! Check out her new single.

MILKING THE HYPE

If you live on planet earth, you heard, (or if you’re lucky enough saw it with your own eyes), the total eclipse of the sun. On Monday, August 21st, around 300 million Americans got to witness the first total solar eclipse across the United States since 1918. Loads of attention-seeking celebrities used the once-in-a-lifetime spectacle hype for their own publicity, and social media was flooded with images and videos documenting the occasion. Who do you think should have just let it be?

VALUES OVER GOLD

In the FINA World Masters Championships final one veteran swimmer sacrificed the race to honour the victims of the attacks in Spain that killed 15. Prior to the race, he requested a minute silence be observed before the race but his request was denied by the competition’s organisers. So, when the buzzer went off and the others raced away, Fernando Alvarez stood still. He held his own tribute. Mr. Alvarez, we salute you.

SEOUL’S COUNTERFEIT STREETWEAR

Counterfeit Culture: Korea is Highsnobiety’s first-ever documentary, and it explores the country’s thriving market for fake streetwear. South Korea has a reputation of one of Asia’s leading fashion destinations. The country is obsessed with fashion and beneath the surface there is an insane market for counterfeit streetwear. There are places in Seoul that are openly selling convincing knockoffs of popular street brands which are driving the capital’s unique fashion scene. This is what happens when you build a business around hype.

IT’S GOOD TO BE JAMES HARDEN

James Harden is one very rich human being. He’s reminding the world of the outrageous amount of money in his bank account in this new Foot Locker commercial, one that shows him running on a treadmill on a yacht. The Rockets star recently signed a record-breaking contract extension that will see him make $228 million through 2022-23. The 27-year-old also has a deal with Adidas worth a combined $200 million over 13 years. Yep, it’s good to be James Harden.

A TALE OF BETRAYAL AND MURDER

The Killers are back, unveiling their mysterious new video for ‘Run for Cover’. It’s an artfully constructed tale of betrayal and murder following the female protagonist as she is chased by a car – with the driver seemingly intent on stealing a cassette tape (which reads ’07/28/17′) off her, which cleverly corresponds with the exact date the Killers first released ‘Run for Cover’ as a single. The track is taken from the four piece’s forthcoming new album ‘Wonderful Wonderful’, which is set for release on September 22.
